If the network force-changes your nickname for not identifying, or you get disconnected but your nick stays online, you can speed up the process of getting it back by either:
If the Nick is still in the channel, don't ask for an OP to kick it because it'll still be there. type /msg nickserv ghost <nick> <nickpassword> to force it to quit.
If services is holding onto your nick after being forced to change, you can get them to let go of it by typing /msg nickserv release <nick> <password>
